My story
Hi, I’m Leizl. This is my story.
I’m Dr. Leizl Yance, ND, a naturopathic doctor in Kitchener-Waterloo with a clinical focus on fertility and hormonal health. I see people at Functional Medicine Uptown in Waterloo, and virtually across Ontario.
Where it started
I know what painful cycles feel like.
For years I had immense period pain and difficult cycles. When I first saw a naturopathic doctor myself, it was the beginning of understanding my body as a connected system, where symptoms are signals waiting to be understood.
That’s still how I work. I believe your body has a story to tell. When it comes to fertility, it isn’t just about one hormone: it includes your thyroid, your digestion and your mental health.
How I work
What you can expect from me.
I listen to the whole story
Your cycle, history, labs, food, sleep and stress, and what matters most to you right now. Nothing is TMI here.
I explain the why
I keep up with the research and translate it into plain language, so you know the reason behind every recommendation.
I play well with others
With your consent, I coordinate with your family doctor, midwife or fertility clinic, so your plans fit together.
I’m in your corner
I’ll celebrate your wins, keep you accountable to your goals, and help you handle the curveballs.
Outside the clinic
Trails, clay and a very good dog.
I’m usually on a hiking trail or at the pottery wheel. Not every pot survives the kiln (we don’t talk about those). My dog comes along for most of it, and supervises the reading.
